BACKGROUND: MyWay Digital Health (MWDH) www.mwdh.co.uk is a purpose driven University of Dundee spin out company established in Jan 2017, currently supporting national and large regional data-integrated diabetes self-management platforms (globally) and since 2023, diabetes prevention, cardiovascular, hypertension and weight management. The original My Diabetes My Way (pre-commercial) product developed by University of Dundee, has been running nationally in Scotland since 2006. SOLUTION: MWDHs vision is to improve the lives of people living with diabetes (and now other long-term conditions) around the globe through cost effective data-driven personalised health technology solutions aimed at both patients and practitioners/ healthcare organisations. MyWay Health/ MyWay Diabetes Patient App (https://vimeo.com/440138386?share=copy) provides patient education (resources and courses), health data access, self-management support, semi-automated clinical services, including remote monitoring through pairing with remote diagnostics and device products. MyWay Clinical (https://vimeo.com/437674743/2e806dcca2)) is a complementary clinician platform supporting: i) individual/ population evidence-based management/ decision support, ii) risk profiling and analytics, iii) remote monitoring and patient secure messaging. MyWay IQ (MWIQ) is a predictive analytics tool supporting prediction of i) key short and long term complications, ii) individual response to drugs, iii) diagnosis of diabetes subtypes iv) self-management impact on outcomes. This can be used in conjunction with other MWDH products or as a stand-alone tool. MyWay Communications:Cohort Finding and Direct-to-Patient Marketing Services (SMS/ email) to support care pathways and recruitment into digital tools, national and local health programmes MyWay Diabetes (MWD) is MWDHs leading multi-award winning product, with >3.4m website/ education users, 18m pages viewed, 190,000 data app registrants, >23,000 structured course registrants. It is the number 1 diabetes app in UK (ORCHA score- 93%). MWD/ MDMW ingests NHS data for >1m people with diabetes and >0.5m with aligned metabolic conditions (covering 1,800 GP practices) supporting 26.8% of UK diabetes population including supporting the national NHS Scotland diabetes platform and NHS England’s national Type 1 online education service www.mytype1diabetes.nhs.uk;. MWDH has a Dubai office and commercial contracts in Saudi Arabia and developing partnerships/ projects in Asia.
Dr Debbie Wake (DW) (PI) is an UK NHS physician (consultant) and academic with University of Edinburgh Centre for Medical informatics/ Usher Institutes. She is also clinical lead for Scotlands national MyDiabetesMyWay self-management platform, and co-founded spin out company MyWay Digital Health, now delivering large data-linked regional services in UK/ internationally supporting >1.8 m people with diabetes, pre-diabetes, cardiovascular (CVD) disease, CVD risk, and weight management, demonstrating significant health improvements and £10m’s of cost savings. These platform are generally linked to existing electronic health service routinely collected data and remote device data and deploy rules and machine learning models to driving automate advice around management and self-management of diabetes , including linking patient to appropriate online courses and resources.
Debbie received the IUK Women in Innovation award in 2019, is an NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow, and National Clinical Entrepreneur. She has led international diabetes education projects in Kuwait (supporting >1000 students on CPD and Cert, Dip, MSc programmes) and in China (Shenzhen Peoples Hospital/ Hainan diabetes centre)
