Challenge 2026: Smart Kiosks for Remote Medical Diagnostics
Chief of Innovation in Health and Social at Althaia, Xarxa Assistencial Universitària de Manresa
Manresa, Spain
About
This project proposes the development and deployment of AI-enabled smart medical kiosks designed to provide accessible, secure, and high-quality remote diagnostic services. The kiosks will integrate advanced medical devices, real-time clinical data processing, and secure connectivity with existing healthcare information systems, ensuring interoperability and continuity of care.
The solution is particularly focused on improving healthcare access in underserved, rural, and remote areas, where geographical barriers and limited medical resources often generate inequalities in service delivery. By connecting local communities with specialized healthcare professionals through digital technologies, the kiosks will facilitate early detection, monitoring, and timely clinical decision-making.
The initiative is conceived as a scalable and sustainable platform, combining robust hardware, digital health integration, artificial intelligence, and public–private collaboration. The model will enable flexible deployment across different territories, adapting to local needs while maintaining global technological standards.
Beyond improving accessibility, the project aims to optimize healthcare system efficiency, reduce unnecessary hospital visits, and enhance patient experience. By aligning technological innovation with territorial health strategies, the smart kiosk ecosystem will act as a bridge between local needs and global technological capacity, contributing to a more equitable, resilient, and digitally connected healthcare system.
