Metastrict

Metastrict is a planned biotech startup developing precision therapies to prevent and treat cancer metastasis. While metastasis is responsible for the vast majority of cancer-related deaths, current treatment strategies primarily target tumor growth rather than the molecular mechanisms driving metastatic progression.

Our approach focuses on S100A4 and MACC1, two clinically relevant drivers of metastasis associated with tumor progression, treatment resistance and poor patient outcomes. Building on our academic research, we are developing MSt-001, a first-in-class small-molecule candidate designed to inhibit the transcription of S100A4 and MACC1 and thereby interfere with key processes underlying metastatic progression.

Our initial focus is colorectal cancer, with the potential to expand the approach to additional solid tumor indications based on the broad relevance of S100A4 and MACC1 as metastasis-associated biomarkers across a wide range of solid tumors. In parallel, we aim to develop a blood-based companion diagnostic to identify patients with elevated S100A4/MACC1 levels who may particularly benefit from targeted anti-metastatic treatment. Together, this therapeutic and diagnostic strategy aims to enable a biomarker-guided approach to metastasis.

Metastrict is currently in the pre-foundation and preclinical development stage. We are advancing our lead compound toward further medicinal chemistry optimization, mechanistic characterization and preclinical validation while building the foundation for a future biotech spin-out. We are particularly interested in collaborations and exchange with experts and partners in drug development, medicinal chemistry, preclinical and clinical oncology, diagnostics, biotech development and investment to help translate our research toward clinical application.
