About

Universidad de Navarra (UNAV), Pamplona, Spain

The Universidad de Navarra is a private research university founded in 1952. Its research in this area sits in the Department of Building Construction, Services and Structures at the School of Architecture, which works on structural design, building services and fire safety in the built environment.

UNAV coordinates eRISIKO – AI-Driven Dynamic Fire Risk Assessment for Electric Vehicles in Buildings (Horizon Europe MSCA Staff Exchanges, GA 101236710, 2026–2029). The project partners are:

  • the University of Liverpool;

  • ZAG/FRISSBE (Slovenia);

  • Universiti Putra Malaysia;

  • the Fire and Rescue Academy of Malaysia.

Within the project, UNAV leads the development of an AI-based dynamic fire risk assessment tool for EVs in car parks and buildings. eRISIKO builds on the earlier MSCA project EVRISK, which produced:

  • a Fault Tree Analysis framework for EV fire risk;

  • statistical analyses of heat release rates in EV and ICE vehicle fires;

  • machine-learning tools for car park occupancy and safety.

Expertise offered: EV and lithium-ion fire risk assessment, fire incident data analysis, structural fire resistance of car parks, and regulatory review.
