Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea

The University of the Basque Country (officially Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea or UPV/EHU) is the premier public higher education and research institution in the Basque Autonomous Community of Spain. Renowned as a "Campus of International Excellence," the university serves over 45,000 students and is distributed across three main campuses in the provinces of Álava, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa. It plays a vital societal role as the primary engine for regional innovation, generating roughly 70% of all scientific research conducted within the Basque Country. Deeply rooted in Basque culture, UPV/EHU is a highly multilingual institution offering a robust selection of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Basque, Spanish, and English. Through its student-centered IKD pedagogical model and its membership in the ENLIGHT European University Alliance, the university successfully balances strong regional engagement with an increasingly prominent global footprint, consistently ranking among the top 500 universities worldwide.
