alterity is a European manufacturer of lithium battery systems for industrial applications, founded in 2018 and based in the Basque Country, Spain. We combine in-house engineering, product development, industrialisation and manufacturing capabilities to deliver battery solutions adapted to demanding industrial environments.

Our core expertise covers battery pack architecture, mechanical and electrical design, electronics, BMS, firmware, thermal management, communications, prototyping, testing, validation and serial production. We work from early-stage requirements and feasibility analysis through to industrialisation, certification support and long-term technical assistance.

alterity is especially active in mobile robotics and AGV/AMR applications, industrial machinery, professional and special vehicles, electrification projects and stationary energy storage. We work with both established OEMs and technology companies developing new products, helping them move from prototype to reliable and scalable production.

Beyond new battery development, we are expanding our capabilities across the full battery lifecycle. Our activities include diagnostics, testing, repair, remanufacturing, repurposing and second-life applications, with the aim of extending battery lifetime, reducing unnecessary replacement and improving the circularity of industrial battery systems.

Our facilities in Spain include production and testing capabilities, with equipment for cell, module and battery characterisation under different operating and temperature conditions. This allows us to generate our own technical data, validate new technologies and support R&D activities related to performance, degradation, safety and lifetime extension.

Since its creation, alterity has participated in more than 100 industrial projects and has supplied battery systems for applications operating in different European and international markets.

We are interested in Horizon Europe and other collaborative R&D projects where our industrial battery expertise can contribute to technology development and real-world demonstration. Areas of particular interest include advanced battery systems, robotics and autonomous systems, industrial electrification, flexible and sustainable manufacturing, battery diagnostics, thermal management, lifetime extension, remanufacturing, second life, circular economy and energy storage.

As an industrial SME with both engineering and manufacturing capabilities, alterity can contribute not only to research and development activities but also to prototyping, system integration, validation, industrialisation and demonstration in real operating environments.
