About

Founded in 962 A.D., the University of Parma is a public, and multidisciplinary institution, accredited in the highest Italian tier (Band A by ANVUR). The University constitutes a territorial centre for advanced education, research, and constructive societal dialogue and its mission is centred on fostering the cultural, ethical, and civil growth of individuals and actively contributing to societal development. The University of Parma promotes human rights, solidarity, inclusion, and comprehensive social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Furthermore, it operates on principles of responsibility, autonomy, equity, and the freedom of research and teaching, actively prioritising merit and critical thinking – fostered by the drafting of the "Guidelines for Good Scientific Practice and Dissemination of Research", the establishment of a "Board for the Ethics of Non-Medical Research on the Person" and the establishment of the University Research Commission. The University international vocation is highlighted, for instance, by its double degree agreements and participation in the Erasmus programmes and EU GREEN European University Alliance.

Organised in ten departments, the University proposes a didactic offer which is flexible, multilingual, interdisciplinary, and responsive to evolving societal needs. Furthermore, it fosters an open and collaborative scientific research environment aimed at addressing contemporary global challenges – such as gender equality and sustainability.

The University actively engages with institutions, businesses, and citizens to generate significant social, economic, and cultural impact and acts as a proactive driver for a transition towards the progress of the territory, the country and the international community – thanks to facilities such as the Parma Technopole. Among its Quality Policies, it has an Integrated Quality Management System to plan, monitor, evaluate and constantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes.
