About

LuciSun is a Belgian engineering company specialised in photovoltaic technical advisory, advanced simulation, data analytics, and software development for the solar energy sector. We provide independent expertise across the entire life cycle of PV assets, including technical due diligence, resource assessment, energy yield evaluation, performance analysis, and diagnostic services for operational plants. Our approach combines deep knowledge of solar physics, on-site engineering experience, and advanced data-driven methodologies to help developers, investors, manufacturers, operators, and research institutions make informed and bankable decisions.

Beyond consulting, LuciSun has built strong capabilities in digital innovation. Through our Digital Factory services, we design and develop custom software tools, APIs, analytics systems, dashboards, and engineering platforms for the solar and energy industry. Our multidisciplinary team includes software engineers, DevOps specialists, data scientists, and solar experts who work seamlessly together to transform operational needs into robust digital products. We deliver end-to-end solutions such as internal platforms, calculation engines, reporting automation tools, digital twins, and workflow applications. Our developments rely on a mature and secure cloud architecture with strong integration of solar, meteorological, and data-quality protocols.

LuciSun also develops LuData, an API-first data and model services platform providing access to validated historical irradiance and meteorological datasets, advanced analytics engines, digital elevation and horizon data, TMY and Pxx generation, and simulation protocols for energy and environmental studies. LuData enables developers, researchers, and industrial users to build, publish, exchange, and consume high-quality environmental data and analytical models within a unified ecosystem.

LuciSun is actively involved in European and international research and innovation projects. We are a partner in the Horizon Europe project SYMBIOSYST, contributing to the development, validation, and benchmarking of advanced 3D light simulation tools for agrivoltaics, including complex crop canopies and greenhouse systems. Our 3D GPU-based simulation engine has been used to support the design and optimisation of agrivoltaic demonstrators. LuciSun also participated in the SERENDI-PV project and contributes to the work of IEA PVPS Task 13, Task 15, and Task 16 through expertise in modelling, performance assessment, digitalisation, and uncertainty analysis. Through these collaborations, we bring forward innovative methodologies for resource assessment, quality checks, system modelling, and bankability analysis, while integrating them into operational tools and commercial services.

With a combination of technical rigour, software engineering capabilities, and active engagement in scientific research, LuciSun offers a unique blend of expertise for partners seeking high-quality contributions in photovoltaic modelling, agrivoltaics, digital platforms, data infrastructures, and solar energy innovation.
