The institute's headquarters are located on the campus of the Technical University in Ilmenau, Thuringia. The institute has more than twenty years of internationally recognized expertise in the fields of psychoacoustics and electroacoustics, audio technology, multimodal analysis of audio and video data, media forensics and machine learning methods.
Under the claim “Where AI means Audio Intelligence”, everything at the headquarters in Ilmenau revolves around the secure and efficient AI-based recognition and classification of audio and video data. Our solutions are used, for example, in industrial sound monitoring, media forensic analysis, music classification and recommendation, broadcasting and media applications as well as environmental and biodiversity monitoring. An important aspect in the collection, evaluation, storage and transmission of data is the trustworthy handling of this information. To this end, the institute develops the necessary tools to ensure the protection of sensitive company and machine data as well as personal data.
Another focus is the development of customized solutions for the production and reproduction of authentic and spatial sound experiences for the professional audio, entertainment and automotive sectors. In addition, the institute is working on processes for the active improvement and targeted generation of sound fields, which can be used, for example, in the lightweight construction of vehicles to reduce unwanted noise.
