Fighting disinformation and effectively communicating on climate change

European Project Manager at AUPEX - Association of Popular Universities of Extremadura Region

Badajoz, Spain

About

AUPEX is a non-profit organisation founded in 1992, representing 220 rural municipalities in Extremadura (Spain) and operating as a network for education, culture and digital transformation in rural areas. Its areas of expertise include culture, education, environmental awareness, civic participation, and digital and social inclusion, with a mission focused on promoting equal opportunities and empowering citizens towards sustainable and inclusive development. With a solid organisational capacity—290 staff, over 100,000 participants per year, and more than 30 years of training experience—AUPEX offers strong potential to contribute effectively to European collaborative projects.

Within a consortium, AUPEX could support the design and implementation of community-based pilots by mobilising its network of Popular Universities to engage citizens in testing innovative climate communication approaches and addressing climate-related disinformation. It could contribute to climate literacy and anti-disinformation training for citizens, local authorities and community leaders, co-create accessible and inclusive communication tools and narratives, and provide real-life environments for piloting and validating digital and AI-based solutions, ensuring their relevance, usability and scalability across diverse European territories.
