Demonstration for Long-duration Battery Energy Storage Systems (BATT4EU Partnership)

Assess not only the physical impacts of utility-scale batteries, but more importantly, their application and the benefits they bring as part of the sustainability calculations. By integrating data for emissions in the system, the software defining when to charge and discharge the battery could improve its decision making, while automatically estimates the emissions avoided. Using LCA software packages, real-time emissions could be integrated into the system, and the benefits of avoiding curtailments, limiting grid expansions, and improving grid stability could be included.
