Looking for consortia working on propulsion/combustion/thermal management providing CFD/FEM/MBSE-based design and analyis

About

Ergon Research is an Innovative SME and former spin-off of the University of Florence founded in 2008, specialized in R&D and technology transfer to solve thermo-fluid problems (combustion, energy systems, fluid dynamics, turbomachinery and thermal management). We innovate products by exploiting simulations (CFD, 1D), developing codes and supporting experimental tests.

We have large experience of regional and European funded R&D programmes (www.ergonresearch.it/rd/) At the moment we are involved as a partner in 6 EU-funded projects: 2 Horizon Europe (HOPE, TRIATHLON), 2 Clean Aviation (HYDEA, AMBER), 2 European Defence Fund (SILENT, DAMAGER) and EuroHPC.

We are looking for consortia that need support for modelling thermofluiddynamics-related problems with CFD/FEM/MBSE tools, as well as designing/manufacturing high-temperature probes, test articles (turbomachinery, combustion, thermal management) and test rigs (also in high-pressure and high-temperature reactive conditions).

We have numerical experience in turbomachinery aerodynamics (compressors, turbines for steam, gas turbines, sCO2 cycles), turbopumps, secondary-air systems, stator-rotor cavities, combustor and turbine cooling, combustion, emission reduction, thermal calculations, fluid-structure interaction, thermal management (power electronics, electric motors, batteries), single-phase and multi-phase heat transfer, cryogenic chill-down, multi-phase flows, turbo-pumps, steady and transient thermo-structural calculations, reduce-order modelling for the creation of digital twins, failure of power electronics (arc blast fault), fluid dynamics in indoor environments and many others...

Concerning the experimental capabilities, we use partner labs to perform tests of heat transfer, aerodynamics, rotating machinery, combustion from ambient conditions to engine-relevant conditions (up to 60 kg/s air at 30 bar) using natural gas, hydrogen, ammonia. Among the measurement techniques used, it's worth citing PIV, HWA, IR, TLC, PSP, TSP... Get in touch to discuss in more detail our possible contribution.
