What is HazClim®

HazClim® is a method developed to help organizations identify, measure, and manage climate risks, whether physical (climate hazards, extreme events) or transition-related (regulation, market changes, stakeholder expectations).

Objectives

• Measure the exposure of sites, activities, and processes to climate risks.

• Prioritize risks using matrices and scenarios.

• Build a resilience and adaptation plan by identifying and ranking actions.

• Develop skills by training teams so they can update and replicate the analysis.

Structure and modalities

Available pathways:

• HazClim® Express: quick assessment (0.5 to 2 days).

• HazClim® Initial: 2–10 day workshops to build a risk matrix and an adaptation plan.

• HazClim® Resilience: in-depth analysis, multiple scenarios, integration into governance.

Types of risks covered:

• Physical risks: direct climate impacts on infrastructure, processes, and safety.

• Transition risks: regulatory changes, customer/societal expectations, energy costs, value chains.

Strengths

• Integration into existing risk management systems (QHSE, safety, etc.).

• Pragmatic and participative approach (workshops, matrices, scenarios).

Training available:

• Basic training: 2 days (14 hours).

• Prerequisites: awareness of climate issues (e.g., Climate Fresk) and proficiency with office tools.
