My organisation

Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa (IUC) in Türkiye boasts 32,912 students and 2,313 academic personnel spread across its 12 Faculties. IUC serves as a cornerstone for both the industrial sector and higher education, offering diverse programs. The university currently maintains extensive research infrastructure including 279 registered research laboratories in ARLAB and 82 specialized laboratories integrated into the national LABS system, demonstrating substantial capacity for supporting innovation activities. This is complemented by strong international networks, evidenced by partnerships with 121 universities across 22 countries through ERASMUS KA131 programs and 21 accredited academic programs across multiple disciplines. One of the key components involves ecosystem integration. IUC will leverage its extensive networks across academic, industry, and support structures. The university's Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and Project and Technology Office (PROTEK) will play crucial roles in facilitating knowledge transfer and commercialization activities. The International Academic Relations Unit will support international collaboration and knowledge exchange while the European Union and International Projects Unit supports the number and quality of international project applications of IUC. Moreover, IUC maintains an active technology park, Entertech Istanbul Teknokent, which hosts 26 faculty-owned companies. The university has built a strong track record in patent applications and commercialization, successfully securing and managing significant research funding, with multiple projects exceeding €500,000.

About me

Prof.Dr. Ülkü Alver Şahin serves as a Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. She received the BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering from Istanbul University. She conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Birmingham in the UK in 2019-2020 and at Carleton University in Canada in 2013. She works on air pollution, climate change, carbon capture and utilisation, and industrial emissions with researchers as a manager of the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Air Pollution Research Group (IUC-APRG). She has more than sixty scientific papers on these areas. She has been managing and contributing to more research projects supported by national or international scientific organisations and industries. Specifically, they are interested in the process investigation about "from flue gas carbon to product using the waste material in industries" and "real-time CO2 monitoring in urban or near industrial areas by sensor" nowadays.
