Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Strengthen Climate Resilience in Small Island Developing States
Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face significant capacity constraints that hinder their ability to access climate finance and effectively implement adaptation projects. Limited technical expertise, high administrative burdens, and complex funding requirements often delay urgent climate action.
This session explores how AI can help address these challenges across the full project lifecycle - from proposal development to implementation, monitoring, and reporting. It will bring together policymakers, practitioners, and experts to examine practical applications of AI, identify real-world bottlenecks, and assess risks such as data governance and institutional readiness.
By bridging the gap between AI’s potential and on-the-ground realities in SIDS, the discussion aims to highlight where AI can improve efficiency and institutional capacity, while also identifying where broader structural reforms are still needed.
