Young People Shaping the Future of Museology Through the Lens of the SDGs
This session explores how museums can support climate action and contribute to advancing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in underrepresented countries and communities.
Drawing on the University of St Andrews-led Shared Island Stories project and the work of the International Committee for Museology, the session highlights how heritage can engage young people as change-makers in shaping more sustainable futures, particularly within island and coastal communities on the frontline of the climate emergency.
By placing young people at the centre of discussion, the session demonstrates how museums can foster more inclusive, community driven and globally connected approaches to sustainability.
