Environmental restoration, wildfire resilience and community-based monitoring in island ecosystems
Technical Director | Fénix Canarias & Surikat at Fenix Canarias
Spain
About
Fénix Canarias is an environmental organisation focused on applied restoration, wildfire risk reduction and community engagement in island ecosystems, particularly in the Canary Islands.
We are interested in joining collaborative projects that address climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable land management, contributing both technical expertise and real-world implementation capacity.
Our work combines field-based action, environmental education and innovative monitoring approaches, allowing us to bridge the gap between technical solutions and social adoption.
We can contribute to projects through:
-
Implementation and testing of restoration strategies in diverse environmental conditions (arid to humid gradients)
-
Design and deployment of community-based monitoring systems (including low-cost sensors and field data collection)
-
Development of wildfire prevention approaches based on landscape management and public awareness
-
Environmental education and stakeholder engagement strategies
-
Validation of solutions in real operational contexts (pilot sites / living labs)
-
Transfer and adaptation of methodologies to outermost regions and island territories
We currently manage and collaborate in multiple pilot areas in the Canary Islands, offering a strong testbed for applied research and innovation in real conditions.
We are particularly interested in projects related to:
-
Nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration
-
Wildfire resilience and landscape-scale risk reduction
-
Climate change adaptation in vulnerable territories
-
Biodiversity monitoring and conservation
-
Community engagement and environmental awareness
Fénix Canarias aims to contribute as a reliable implementation partner, helping to translate project outcomes into practical, scalable solutions.
We provide real-world test environments where solutions can be implemented, validated and scaled under complex environmental conditions.
