Purifying Facade

Purifying Façade is developing a biotechnology-driven R&D project focused on integrating microalgae-based photobioreactor systems into building façades for CO₂ capture and biomass production.

The concept combines microalgae cultivation, fluid system design, and façade engineering to enable carbon capture within the built environment while generating usable biomass. The system is designed adaptable across different climates and building types.

The project is currently in an early validation phase and is being developed with academic and technical partners, with support from an Innosuisse innovation mentor. The next steps include feasibility validation, system optimization, and pilot implementation.

Purifying Façade is actively seeking collaboration with partners in biotechnology, photobioreactor systems, building engineering, and EU-funded R&D programmes such as Eureka and Horizon Europe.
