About

Nano-Wave is an innovative technology company founded by Philip Duggan, transforming the way the world processes organic waste, biomass, and advanced carbon materials. The company was developed through collaborative R&D activity supported by Innovate UK, combining expertise in materials science, microwave processing, engineering, process control, and sustainable technology development.

Philip founded Nano-Wave to address major market gaps in advanced microwave processing, particularly where conventional methods are too slow, energy-intensive, water-intensive, or chemically demanding. The company brings together a strong technical team, including Bode Fantimo, a Nigerian national whose skills in process control, sensing, systems development, and engineering support strengthen Nano-Wave’s capability following the removal of earlier external engineering dependencies.

At its core, Nano-Wave is driven by disruptive microwave technology that enables efficient, scalable, and sustainable material processing. The company has developed multiple prototype microwave systems capable of processing liquids, solids, and gases, including continuous-processing approaches. This gives Nano-Wave breakthrough capability across several high-value markets:

Plant-based protein extraction: using microwave-assisted processing to unlock proteins and functional compounds from biomass for applications in food, bioplastics, and nutraceuticals.

Biofuel production: converting biomass and waste streams into energy-dense, cleaner-burning fuel products, supporting renewable energy and circular-economy targets.

Graphene and advanced carbon materials: upgrading low-grade graphite and carbon feedstocks into higher-value graphene materials by removing impurities, reducing energy-intensive processing steps, and improving material performance for electronics, composites, coatings, and energy-storage applications.

Biochar and carbon capture materials: producing functional carbon-rich materials for soil enhancement, carbon sequestration, and potential use as construction additives or performance-enhancing fillers.

Nano-Wave’s microwave methods are rapid, energy-efficient, low-water, and difficult to replicate. By reducing processing time, lowering energy demand, and avoiding many conventional chemical or thermal treatment steps, Nano-Wave is positioned as a leader in sustainable waste-to-value and advanced materials processing.

The company’s circular approach supports environmental goals by diverting waste and low-value feedstocks from landfill, creating useful industrial materials, improving resource efficiency, and supporting cleaner domestic supply chains.

Commercially, Nano-Wave is well positioned for growth across several large and expanding markets, including battery materials, graphene, advanced composites, bio-based products, clean energy, biochar, and circular-economy technologies. The company also has international relevance, with opportunities connected to markets and projects across regions including Australia, Singapore, South Africa, and Nigeria.
