The ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim is a non-profit and independent institute with the legal form of a limited liability company (GmbH). ZEW is a member of the Leibniz Association. Founded in 1990 on the basis of a public-private initiative in the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg in co-operation with the University of Mannheim, ZEW is one of Germany's leading economic research institutes, and enjoys a strong reputation throughout Europe.

About me

Achim Wambach received his doctorate in physics from the University of Oxford. He earned a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics and completed his habilitation in economics at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. He became a professor of economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and took on the position of director of the Institute for Economic Policy (iwp) at the University of Cologne. He was chairman of the Verein für Socialpolitik (German Economic Association) for the 2017/18 term.
