Established in 2016, the Center of Aviation and Space Research at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU) consolidates the university's strong track record and advanced infrastructure in aerospace and aeronautics research. Located within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME), the Center brings together experts in continuous mechanics, aerospace research, and simulation. Research is conducted across multiple FME institutes, including the Center of Advanced Aerospace Technology (CAAT), Institute of Mathematics, Institute of Mechanics, Biomechanics and Mechatronics, and Institute of Aerospace Engineering, as well as through collaborations with external research institutions.

The Center leverages cutting-edge equipment and infrastructure across three key locations: CTU Campus in Prague 6 – Dejvice, Czech Aerospace Research Centre in Prague 9 – Letnany, and Hradec Králové Airport. It features state-of-the-art facilities, such as the dynamometric test cell for turboprop engines, which enables comprehensive testing of aircraft engines (up to 2000 kW). This includes monitoring vibration characteristics, temperature and pressure fields, power, consumption, and noise. The Center also operates mobile propeller test stands at Hradec Králové Airport, equipped to monitor vibration characteristics of turboprop engine components. Complementing these specialized laboratories, the Center utilizes FME’s broader facilities for static and dynamic strength tests, drone technology, and non-destructive testing, providing an unmatched concentration of expertise and capabilities in aerospace and related fields in the Czech Republic.
