About me

My name is María Francisca Troncoso Castillo, a mining engineer, mother, and current General Manager of GTC Electrical Industries. I would like to share a brief professional biography that summarizes my education, experience, and strong commitment to innovation and the development of R&D projects. From the beginning of my academic journey at the University of Chile, where I earned a Bachelor of Science followed by a degree in Mining Engineering, I have cultivated a passion for continuous learning. I supplemented my education with specializations in areas such as Human Resources, Family Business, Finance, and International Business at NYU, among others. Recently, I obtained a diploma in Mentoring Certification, which has allowed me to lead three mentoring processes. For more than ten years, I had the privilege of being part of BHP, the largest mining company, where I began my career through a rigorous graduate program. At BHP, I broke barriers by becoming the first woman to hold positions such as shift supervisor and mining superintendent. These experiences allowed me to closely understand mining processes and the importance of integrating quality with sustainability. For various reasons, I decided to return to Santiago to take on the challenge of professionalizing the family business, GTC. Founded in 2002, GTC Electrical Industries has become one of the leading providers of electrical solutions in Chile, standing out for excellence in the maintenance, repair, and modernization of electrical equipment. Under my leadership, the company obtained ISO certifications in quality, safety, and environment, which has allowed us to expand our strategic relationships and strengthen alliances, such as the long-term collaboration with ABB. In 2024, I had the honor of participating in a partner mission in Germany, where we managed to obtain the representation of two prestigious German companies. This experience reinforced my belief that international collaboration is essential to driving innovation and creating synergies that support R&D. My vision is focused on developing projects integrating new technologies and sustainable practices, especially in areas related to the circular economy and the modernization of electrical equipment. I am convinced that collaboration with cutting-edge experts and companies, particularly those in the German industry, will enhance our capabilities to provide innovative and efficient solutions.
