Fractional CTO — AI & Insurtech, Francophone West Africa

Assuraf is seeking a fractional or advisory CTO to provide strategic technical leadership as the company scales its digital insurance infrastructure platform across francophone West Africa. Assuraf operates across multiple countries in the CIMA regulatory zone, connecting insurers, distribution partners, and customers through a unified system handling policy issuance, mobile money payments (Wave, Orange Money, Free Money), claims management, and a field agent network.

This is an opportunity to shape technical direction at a company already live in market, with real transaction volume and a multi-country regulatory footprint, rather than starting from zero. The current stack includes DigitalOcean, Cloudflare, MongoDB, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD, with an active security partnership and ongoing work on AI-driven initiatives, including natural-language data access for internal teams, automated notification systems, and exploratory fraud detection and underwriting use cases.

We're looking for someone who can advise on architecture decisions, technology roadmap, AI/data strategy, and engineering best practices on a part-time or advisory basis, working closely with the founding team. This suits a senior technologist with fintech, insurtech, or emerging-markets infrastructure experience who wants high-leverage strategic involvement without a full-time operating commitment.
