ifeu conducts research and provides consulting services worldwide on all major environmental and sustainability issues. With over 45 years of experience, it is one of the leading environmentally focused research institutes in Germany. Our work is characterized by independence, practical relevance, and a goal-oriented approach. ifeu currently employs over 120 staff members from the fields of natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences at its locations in Heidelberg, Berlin, and Hamburg.

We use our scientific expertise and consulting experience to stimulate necessary changes in policy and society and to actively help shape solutions. In doing so, we are convinced that these transformation processes must be carried out in a democratic and socially just manner—at the local, national, and international levels.
