The University of Barcelona is one of the most research-intensive universities in Spain. It demonstrates a strong capacity for innovation across a wide range of fields, with the health sector standing out in terms of both the volume and quality of outcomes produced by faculties such as the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, and the Faculty of Psychology.

Our involvement in EIT Health projects is often enriched — and at times driven — by the technologies and knowledge generated in faculties such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, and even Fine Arts.

In addition, the University hosts several research institutes that bring together multidisciplinary teams working in areas as diverse as neuroscience, complex systems, and biomedicine. It also includes technology transfer institutions such as CREATIO (https://www.ub.edu/creatio/en/), the first academic center in Spain dedicated to the production and validation of advanced therapies, and Farmatec (http://www.ub.edu/sdm/in_index.htm), a GMP-compliant drug development service.
