About

CMW Foundries is a Portuguese group of foundries established in 1981, specializing in the production of technical cast parts resistant to wear, corrosion, impact, and high temperatures. It operates three production units in Portugal — two in Lousado (Vila Nova de Famalicão) and one in Tramagal (Abrantes) — with an installed capacity to produce up to 15,000 tons of castings per year, including single pieces weighing up to 10 tons, depending on the alloy used.

The company offers a wide range of integrated services, including project engineering, pattern making, molding lines (automatic, semi-automatic, and manual), melting, heat treatment, finishing operations, laboratories for destructive and non-destructive testing, quality control, and CNC machining. It employs advanced technologies such as simulation software (Solidcast/Flowcast), rapid prototyping, reverse engineering with Faro Edge equipment, and 3D printing.

CMW works with various materials, including high-chromium cast irons, carbon and low alloy steels, stainless steels, duplex and super duplex steels, refractory steels, and nickel-based alloys such as Inconel. It delivers ready-to-assemble solutions, offering machined parts tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Around 90% of CMW’s production is exported to more than 25 countries, with key markets including Germany, Spain, France, the Netherlands, and Italy. The main sectors served include petrochemical, shipbuilding and offshore, dredging and mining, machinery, pumps and valves, incineration, and cement plants.

CMW Foundries is committed to quality and holds certifications such as ISO 9001:2015 and PED 2014/68/EU, as well as approvals from international bodies including Lloyd’s Register, DNV GL, Bureau Veritas, and the American Bureau of Shipping. The company also invests in innovation and sustainability, participating in initiatives such as the “Circular Economy Voucher” and “Casting Much Wiser” projects.
