Dendritic Nanosystems for Biomedical Aplications

Technology Transfer and Innovation Promotion Specialist at Universidad de Alcalá (UAH)

Alcalá de Henares, Spain

About

The Dendritic Nanosystems for Biomedical Applications research group focuses on the following principal areas:

  • Nanosystems as drug carriers for anti‑inflammatory, antiviral and antitumour agents.

  • Biomolecule transport, engineering dendritic vehicles for nucleic acids, peptides and proteins.

  • Cosmetic antioxidants, developing dendritic nanosystems with free‑radical‑scavenging capacity for skincare.

  • Metal–organic complexes, creating dendritic metal complexes with antiviral, antibacterial and anticancer activity.

  • Antimicrobial and antiparasitic agents, designing dendritic antivirals (notably HIV inhibitors), antibacterials and antiparasitics.

  • Agrobiotechnology, applying dendritic nanostructures to crop protection and enhancement.

  • Vaccine platforms, exploring dendritic systems for antigen delivery and immunomodulation.

  • Synthetic innovation, devising novel strategies to synthesise and functionalise dendrimers.

  • Neurodegenerative disease, tailoring dendritic nanosystems for diagnosis and therapy of disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

  • Bactericidal surfaces, generating coatings and materials that actively kill or inhibit bacterial growth.

The group provides contract research services in:

  • Synthesising multifunctional dendrimers of diverse topologies

  • Synthesising and fully characterising organic and inorganic compounds

  • Advanced nano‑chemistry techniques

Current projects:

  • Development of a depigmenting and antioxidant cosmetic formulation based on metal nanoparticles functionalised with caffeic acid.

  • Design of a multicomponent nanoscale approach for responsive, transungual treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
