WS23: Shaping Ocean Observing Needs with Blue Economy
- Enablers (marine research, innovation, technology, observation, blue skills, MSP, digitalisation, investment, ocean literacy etc.)
The Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs) of GOOS provide the core data needed to monitor climate change, biodiversity shifts, hazards, and ocean services. They guide the design of a sustained observing system and help ensure effective investment in infrastructure. Until now, EOVs have been shaped largely by scientists, with limited blue-economy input. The EMD workshop offers a unique platform where industry, policy, and science meet to exchange needs. This session will gather insights from marine industry actors and discuss how their priorities can inform and strengthen the evolving EOV framework.
