WS13: Waves of SHE: Women Shaping the Blue Economy

This WIN-BIG EU workshop showcases, in detail, the status and progress of gender balance across Europe’s Blue Economy. Through insights from WIN-BIG deep and broad gender research, stakeholder dialogue, and a screening of a dedicated Women from the Sea documentary, it showcases current progress and persisting gaps, as well as women’s contributions and leadership in ocean-related sectors. The discussion will identify opportunities and barriers, but also share success stories, proposing concrete actions to support the European Ocean Pact’s vision for an inclusive, fair, and sustainable blue future.

Combining presentations, film projection, and live audience dialogue and polling, the workshop fosters active exchange. It will also include Women Ocean Champions Portrait exhibition showing inspiring women leading change across Europe’s Blue Economy.

Participants will be able to co-create key recommendations on gender data, equity measures, and leadership promotion, summarised in an actionable 2nd WIN-BIG policy brief.
