Protection of biodiversity in Bulgaria Foundation

Network for the Preservation of Sturgeon and the Sustainability of the Black Sea Basin Ecosystem- SturNet is a transnational initiative funded under the Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, focused on sturgeon conservation and aquatic biodiversity protection. The project unites partners from Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Greece, Moldova and Ukraine to foster cross-border cooperation, research and policy development aimed at restoring endangered sturgeon populations and promoting sustainable marine ecosystems. Given that sturgeons and fish do not recognize national boundaries, and considering the shared nature of marine ecosystems, disruptions in one area can have cascading effects on regional biodiversity. As part of our mission to expand the network and strengthen regional conservation efforts, we aim to engage with a broader European maritime community and to address these challenges collaboratively, enhancing the resilience and sustainability of our shared marine resources.
