BAY OF SANTANDER: GEOGRAPHY OF THE BLUE ECONOMY
About
GEOGRAPHY OF THE BLUE
Navigatio, a founding member of EU4Ocean, intends to set up a stand representing the Bay of Santander as a laboratory to study the reconciliation of the Blue Economy through citizen participation. Santander is designated as the host city for EMD 2027 and showcases nearly all activities of the Blue Economy within the arc of its bay.
Aware of the importance of Ocean Literacy as a fundamental approach to achieving the reconciliation of the Blue Economy through citizenship, Navigatio will present a 3D model of the Bay of Santander along with a citizen guide to interpret the Blue Economy of the future EMD 2027 host city. This guide is already in progress, and its initial steps were presented in The EU Blue Economy Report 2022 by the European Commission (page 43).
For the wall exhibition, a series of works on engineering, mapping, landscaping, and marine flora and fauna is being developed using the ancient printing technique known as cyanotype or blueprints.
Navigatio's participation in EMD is complemented by the launching of a traditional boat from the Cantabrian Sea (a 12-meter-long trainera) that will carry out joint citizen actions with other members of EU4Ocean on the River Lee.
