George Couvaras

George has over 35 years’ experience in energy, with the bulk of his career at Sasol focused on leading the successful implementation of international GTL ventures. While CEO of Sasol Chevron, he led the successful commissioning, start-up, and operations of ORYX GTL, a 35,000 bpd GTL JV venture with Qatar Petroleum in Qatar. He also led the feasibility study for a 50k bpd, $8bn venture in Alberta, Canada, as well as led business development teams in the evaluation and pursuance of potential GTL/CTL ventures (each in excess of $5 billion) in Australia, East Africa, Latin America, India, Middle East and The Mediterranean. He has participated in many other ventures throughout his career and brings this expertise to Infinium in his day-to-day role developing international projects.
