About

(1) Materials characterisation, in our laboratory, we use advanced techniques to analyse the structure and properties of different materials, ensuring quality and optimising processes, thus opening up new applications in engineering and materials science. We generate (2) numerical simulations that allow modelling and predicting the behaviour of physical systems by means of mathematical algorithms. Thirdly, we are dedicated to (3) the study of the mechanical behaviour of materials and structural elements under extreme conditions of temperature and/or impact. In another order of activities we develop (4) Studies of Corrosion and Durability of structures. Finally, we also carry out (5) Material sintering and forming techniques and special tests. Within these tests, we can highlight the LMTR performs residual stress measurements by means of X-ray diffraction, both on the surface and in depth (by electropolishing), even on samples with complex geometry and ‘in situ’. They work with various structural metallic materials and are the only laboratory in Spain accredited by ENAC according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for this type of testing, in accordance with the UNE-EN-15305 standard.
