Lightweighting Demonstrator Collaboration
About
Ermetal, a Tier-1 supplier of automotive body-in-white (BIW) and exterior panels, invites partners to collaborate on a lightweighting demonstrator within an international R&D project. Our current capabilities and goals include:
Our Expertise:
-
Cold stamping of sheet metal parts, including medium- and high-strength steels
-
In-house design and manufacturing of tooling, dies, and fixtures for mass production
-
Resistance spot welding (RSW) and arc welding for structural and skin components
-
Robotic handling and automation systems for efficient production lines
-
Proven track record in BIW and panel supply for major OEMs
What We Aim to Explore Together:
-
Integration of next-generation lightweight steels, multimaterials, non-steel metal forming, and tailored blanks
-
Optimization of joining methods (e.g. hybrid joining, weld quality improvement, FSW, etc.)
-
Advanced process simulations for formability, weld behavior, and structural performance
-
Circular manufacturing strategies and sustainability improvements
-
Increase uptake of cleaner raw materials
We’re open to working with technology providers, universities, research centers, and OEMs to co-develop lightweight, efficient solutions, building on our experience in international R&D through successful participation in EUREKA (e.g., MACHINIADE, OPTIMUM) and HORIZON MSCA projects (e.g., i-Weld), as well as other initiatives like InnoSale and SynAM.
