AI-Driven Smart Grid and EV-Based Virtual Power Plant Control
Assistant Professor at University of Tsukuba
Ibaraki, Japan
About
We provide research expertise in smart grid technologies that address large-scale renewable energy integration through data-driven approaches.
Our work focuses on AI-based energy management, particularly reinforcement learning for electric vehicle charging and discharging control. By treating EVs as mobile energy storage resources, we develop virtual power plant (VPP) control strategies that enhance grid flexibility and stability under uncertainty.
Our research integrates data science methods such as machine learning, probabilistic modeling, and mathematical optimization with power system engineering, including smart meters, distribution networks, photovoltaics, and EV–grid integration.
We are especially interested in international R&D collaboration with industrial and academic partners working on smart grids, EV infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and carbon-neutral energy systems, with an emphasis on real-world implementation and demonstration.
