About

We can develop sensing concepts and early prototypes, with particular experience in electromagnetic acoustic transducers (EMATs). EMATs generate and receive ultrasound without direct contact, which can be helpful when surfaces are hot, dirty, coated, or moving. We start by clarifying the desired physical effect, then design the transducer layout, drive and receive electronics, and basic fixtures. We keep a close eye on practicality: power consumption, mounting, cabling, and protection for rail environments.

This capability plugs into hardware and demonstration work packages. We can deliver concept notes and a simple prototype quickly so teams can learn what works, then iterate. If EMATs are not the right answer for a given constraint, we will say so and suggest alternatives.

Example applications
• Non-contact ultrasound on coated or moving metallic parts.
• Retrofit sensing for hatch or door status without intrusive mechanics.
• Short-range guided-wave experiments where coupling is difficult.

Deliverables
• Concept sketches, early prototypes, test notes, and recommendations for next iteration.
