The Interdisciplinary Ethics Research Group at the University of Warwick, lead by Professor Keith Hyams, has a substantial track record in democratic innovation, participatory democracy, the ethics of Artificial Intelligence, big data, and emerging technology, security ethics, research ethics, ethics in climate change, just transitions, and ethics in global development. Professor Hyams has led and participated in many European and other funded research projects and has published a large number of peer reviewed articles. In 2015 he was awarded the Inaugural Sanders Prize in Political Philosophy, one of the most prestigious awards in his field. He has held visiting positions at the University of Toronto, the University of Louvain, and the University of Oxford. His policy work includes advising a broad range of NGOs, businesses, and government bodies, including advising the UK Cabinet Office and the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport. He has worked closely on climate and development issues with city governments and local organisations. He has strong links to a number of African research and policy partners.
