AI in Life Sciences: unlocking the next wave of biological discovery and design
- AI & Biopharmaceutical Production
Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming life sciences by enabling analysis of vast biological datasets, from DNA sequences to protein structures, uncovering patterns that are difficult to detect through traditional methods. These advancements are driving breakthroughs in areas such as personalized medicine, drug discovery, and enzyme engineering. How can AI models accelerate functional prediction and design across biological scales? How to face challenges such as incomplete or non-accessible data sets? Developing generalizable AI models that robustly navigate complex and diverse living systems remains an open problem. Here, we want to explore the current status and future directions of AI in life sciences. Let’s highlight real-world examples of AI advancing biological understanding and engineering.
