The IACS is Aragón’s public engine for turning health data, research, and innovation into better care. It manages knowledge for the regional public health system—fostering research, driving innovation, training professionals, and embedding evidence‑based decision‑making in everyday clinical practice.

Beyond supporting researchers, IACS is Aragón’s Health Technology Assessment (HTA) agency, providing rigorous evaluations that inform what works, what’s safe, and what should be adopted across the health service. It is a recognized node within Spain’s RedETS and collaborates internationally through networks such as INAHTA.

• BIGAN / Office of the Data – A secure health data space and governance framework that powers research, innovation, and quality improvement while prioritizing ethics, anonymization, and security.

• GuíaSalud – National clearinghouse for clinical practice guidelines, coordinating development, dissemination, and adoption across Spain’s health system.

• Biobank Aragón – Infrastructure to responsibly collect and share biological samples for high‑impact biomedical research.

• CEICA (Ethics Committee) & post‑authorization study support – Oversight and support to ensure clinical studies meet legal, ethical, and scientific standards.

• Training & knowledge transfer – Programs that upskill clinicians and researchers, strengthening a culture of evidence and innovation across the system.

Where it sits & who it serves

IACS is a public entity of the Government of Aragón, headquartered at the Centro de Investigación Biomédica de Aragón (CIBA) in Zaragoza. It serves hospitals, primary care, public health, and the wider research ecosystem—helping teams turn ideas and data into measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
