About me
I am a Lecturer and Researcher at the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University (UK). I work in the intersection between academic research and real-world applications to develop and support innovation for sustainability and the circular economy in cities and the built environment through design-oriented research.
My research is supported by an interdisciplinary background in urban architectural design, architectural technology and design research through a Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Sustainable Building Design, and PhD in Sustainable Energy & Technologies. I acquired experience in practice, research and teaching, working for more than a decade as a Registered Architect in Italy, while collaborating in research and teaching in Italy and abroad.
After my PhD and returning to the industry, I successfully applied to the high-competitive EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship and joined the Welsh School of Architecture to explore social housing communities' engagement with a circular economy through gamification. Research outputs were further supported for impact by the National Research Wales Innovation Fund. Currently, I am contributing to the EU COST Action CircularB project on applying the circular economy to the built environment while collaborating on the UKRI Green Transition Ecosystems grant to co-design beyond-net-zero housing retrofits.
