West University of Timisoara

The WEST UNIVERSITY OF TIMIȘOARA (UVT) is the largest comprehensive Higher Education Institution in the western region of Romania, offering a wide variety of study programmes, distributed across 12 faculties, and complemented by a multitude of research centres, covering smart specialisation domains, such as including 1) Artificial intelligence, digital solutions and other state-of-the-art IT applications, 2) Environment, green transition and energy efficiency, and 3)Health, wellbeing and social inclusion. With a dedicated Advanced Environmental Research Institute with cutting-edge applied and experimental research infrastructure, the West University of Timișoara contributes to the regional innovation strategy.

According to the third mission of UVT, its academic and research results are integrated in open innovation initiatives to facilitate societal acceptance of mature technologies, via activities pertaining to the living labs methodology and with a distinct focus on citizen science and citizen engagement, to stimulate participatory research. In this sense, an important part of our work is to engage European public audiences on topics of interest through a workshops, debates, and exhibitions, along with content-focused awareness-raising events.
