Olivestone Living Lab

Olivestone Living Lab is a place-based rural innovation initiative rooted in Olivestone Retreat in Kentrika Tzoumerka, Epirus, Greece. It is designed as a connected cluster of seven micro-labs spanning agritourism, stone buildings, the olive grove, river corridor, heritage landscape, walking paths and forest, supported by a shared backbone for governance, learning, safety, data stewardship and evaluation.

By embedding small-scale experimentation and observation into hospitality, farming, maintenance and landscape care, Olivestone aims to explore how rural places can strengthen ecological stewardship, preserve local knowledge, support regenerative livelihoods and create meaningful learning experiences. Following a cycle of co-design, action, observation, reflection and improvement, it seeks to bring together communities, producers, small businesses, researchers and visitors to test practical ideas that respect the character and seasonality of the landscape.
