My organisation
About me
I am the Managing Director at dpSun, working on energy access and decentralised renewable energy projects.
I support project development from early-stage planning to delivery, including technical and financial feasibility, stakeholder engagement, and partnership building.
Our work focuses on solar PV and battery storage solutions that improve reliability and reduce diesel consumption in remote and underserved locations.
dpSun has already been awarded 3 Energy Catalyst projects, and I am keen to connect with developers, NGOs, investors, and technology providers to collaborate on impactful projects.
dpSun – Energy Catalyst Track Record & Ze-Gen Program
dpSun has a proven track record with Innovate UK, having been awarded 5 projects. We specialise in sustainable solar electrification, grid stabilisation, and energy storage systems, with a strong commitment to Innovation and Gender Equality & Social Inclusion .
Key Energy Catalyst Projects:
-
SAMGRIST - Grid Stabilisation Project in Samoa (Energy Catalyst Round 9 Winner): We successfully completed a feasibility analysis for Samoa’s national grid stabilisation. Our approach introduced an innovative business model where the utility engages a private entity to install and operate battery systems (BESS). This initiative was identified as the third highest priority project in Samoa's NDC Implementation Roadmap.
-
SolaFin2Go & SolaNetwork - Sustainable Electrification in Botswana (Energy Catalyst Round 5 & 6 Winner): In these rounds, we developed diverse energy enterprise models to address the specific needs of rural communities. Our solution included deploying a Mini-grid to power essential facilities (such as schools and water points), a Battery Charging Hub for household energy, and Prosumer systems (Solar Home Systems) managed by a Distributed Energy Service Company (DESCO).
Ze-Gen Program (Nigeria) - SPARC Project:
We are also currently active in the Zero Emission Generators (Ze-Gen) accelerator, replacing fossil-fuel generators in the Edondon community (Nigeria).
-
SPARC Phase 1 (Completed - Feasibility): We successfully executed a comprehensive feasibility study, surveying over 1,000 individuals, 197 households, and 63 businesses. This phase validated the technical and financial viability of replacing 125 fossil-fuel generators with a solar-hybrid solution. We also delivered GESI initiatives, including 10 STEM internships and climate awareness workshops for over 100 women and youth.
-
SPARC Phase 2 (Current - Implementation): Building on Phase 1, we are now deploying the solar-powered hybrid mini-grid to serve 385 residential and commercial connections. The project focuses on automating cassava milling to boost agricultural productivity and is scalable to 5 neighbouring off-grid communities (over 21,000 people).
