Distributed wind energy for non-interconnected areas
About
Distributed Wind Demonstration Project – Colombia
1. Background
Parsons Kinetics has developed a modular distributed wind turbine system optimized for small-scale deployment and moderate wind regimes. The system is delivered up to the turbine controller level, including generation, control architecture, and safety mechanisms.
The technology has been technically validated; however, the next strategic step is to demonstrate a fully integrated distributed wind project, including:
-
site assessment
-
system integration (inverter, storage if needed, grid/off-grid interface)
-
logistics and installation
-
operational framework
-
performance monitoring under real conditions
To achieve this, we are seeking a UK-based renewable energy project developer with strong technical and logistical experience.
2. Project Objective
To implement a first demonstration project of distributed wind energy in Colombia, validating:
-
Technical integration of the wind turbine within a complete energy system
-
Real-world LCOE at small scale
-
Operational reliability in semi-remote contexts
-
Project development and deployment workflows
-
Replicability potential.
This will serve as a foundation for scaling distributed wind projects across rural and productive-use environments in Latin America.
3. Scope of Collaboration
Parsons Kinetics will provide:
-
Wind turbine system (up to controller level)
-
Engineering documentation
-
Technical support during installation and commissioning
-
Performance monitoring and data analytics
