Breakout Session 1 - Scaling "in situ" ocean observation data sharing and integration to EMODnet

Format:In-personLocation:Nhow hotel Brussels - Inspire 1&2

Co-Chairs: Antonio Novellino, ETT, Italy, EMODnet Physics Coordinator; Dick Schaap, MARIS, The Netherlands, EMODnet Data Ingestion Coordinator

Rapporteurs: Joseph Nolan, Seascape Belgium;  Ángel Muniz Piniella, EMB

This session is aimed at the diverse European in situ ocean observation system (EOOS) community with a focus on data collection efforts that don't have established data pipelines to EMODnet e.g., citizen science, private sector.  EMODnet data ingestion and thematic coordinators will provide an overview of how EMODnet can support integration of new data flows into EMODnet, including guidelines for data (and metadata) collection, and how to build more systematic data flows, including delayed mode submission, automated harvesting and near real-time data transmission, where appropriate. Research Infrastructures are an important component of the EOOS landscape. RIs will have a dedicated workshop on 26 November afternoon, led by EC DG MARE. For this reason, RIs are not the focus of this EMODnet breakout session.
