Session 1 Panel: EMODnet: Transforming in situ ocean observations into FAIR data and data products for society
This Panel focuses on the EMODnet partnership’s key role in the EU Ocean Observation (OO) initiative value chain, with its 130 partners – including National Oceanographic Data Centres and other key actors - providing a public service to assemble, standardise and transform in situ ocean observations into FAIR data harmonised at European scale, and creating open data products that are unique EU marine knowledge assets. The Panel will also look at what the OO initiative means for the improvement of the in situ (field) ocean observation and data value chain, latest needs and opportunities including for near real-time data services. The Panel is EU-focused yet set in the global context with a view to leveraging and connecting with global ocean data activities, including those of IODE, IOC/UNESCO.
