Anna Pellizzone is advisor for the Italian National Research Council and Bassetti Foundation, experienced in designing and running citizen engagement in R&I.

About me

Anna Pellizzone is an RRI expert and a citizen and stakeholder engagement professional, experienced in designing and running participatory processes on research and innovation at different scales (local, regional, national, international). She is currently collaborating at the Giannino Bassetti Foundation (FGB) and at the Italian National Research Council (CNR).

On behalf of FGB, she is currently involved in HEU REINFORCING, aiming to develop an EU central hub of expertise and resources on Open and Responsible Research and Innovation, and HEU CO-VALUE on participatory processes in knowledge valorisation actions. Anna is also contributing to the participatory activities on ethical and social aspects of AI-driven autonomous vehicles in the context of Interreg EU GINEVRA project and she currently sits in the Advisory Board of the EU project SSH Centre.

In the past, on behalf of FGB, Anna was Country Correspondent for Italy in the H2020 project SUPER MoRRI, and co-coordinator of the Italian hub of FETA- Fair Energy Transition for All, a cross-EU project led by King Badouin Foundation.

In the last 8 years, she was also involved in other EU funded projects: EU MOSAIC project on co-creation activities in the context of the EU mission Climate-neutral and smart city; H2020 TRANSFORM on inserting sound citizen engagement approaches in regional R&I policymaking; and EU H2020 SMART-map project on bringing RRI to the EU industrial settings of synbio, precision medicine and 3D printing in biomedicine.

On behalf of the CNR, Anna was involved as expert on citizen and stakeholder engagement activities in connection to geothermal developments, including EU and national-level projects (IEE GEOELEC; FP7 Geothermal ERA-NET; Progetto VIGOR; Progetto Atlante Geotermico del Mezzogiorno). In the frame of the scientific collaboration with the CNR Anna contributed to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) of the European Technology & Innovation Platform on Geothermal (ETIP-Geothermal) and to the Core Group on Societal Engagement of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA).

Anna is experienced in providing lectures and trainings on RRI, citizen and multi-stakeholder engagement practices in workshops and modules for research and innovation managers, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and young students (Graduate School of Management of Politecnico di Milano, Università degli Studi Milano Bicocca, Domus Academy).

She is referee for peer-reviewed journals (“Energy Policy”, “Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy”, “Renewable Energy”, “International Journal of Disaster Risk Science”, “Geothermics”, “Renewable Energy”) and projects (Swiss National Science Foundation).

Natural scientist by training, she holds a master in Communication of Science and a PhD in Earth Sciences (on public engagement with geothermal energy).
