I work on fluid, solute, and heat transport in saturated/unsaturated fractured media, focusing on reactive transport and upscaling via lab tests and modeling.
About me
Dr. Xiang-Zhao Kong is a senior scientist and group leader of the Geothermal Energy and Geofluids (GEG) Group at ETH Zurich. His research focuses on fluid, solute, and heat transport processes in saturated and unsaturated fractured porous media. He specializes in reactive transport, upscaling transport parameters from pore and core scale to the reservoir scale, and the integration of laboratory experiments with numerical modeling. His work supports the advancement of geothermal energy utilization and subsurface engineering, with applications in CO₂ storage, energy extraction, and storage.
