About me
Dr. Omer Aydin is an Associate Research Professor at Erciyes University, Department of Biomedical Engineering, where he leads the NanoThera Research Group. His research lies at the intersection of nanomedicine, gene therapy, and biomedical technologies, with a strong focus on smart nanoparticle-based delivery systems for cancer and antimicrobial resistance.
Dr. Aydin has led and contributed to multiple national and international research projects, including EU-COST and TÜBİTAK-funded studies. His team develops innovative systems that deliver siRNA, miRNA, and CRISPR-Cas9 pDNA to target drug-resistant cancer cells and bacteria. His projects often integrate ultrasound, SERS spectroscopy, and AI-based diagnostics to create next-generation therapies and monitoring tools. One of his current goals is to translate this technology for rare diseases, immunotherapy, and regenerative medicine applications.
He is also the founder of TuRNA, a startup company focused on nucleic acid therapeutics and nanomedicine-based transfection systems.
