Inflight ICU

Inflight ICU is developing Guardian ICU, a modular and fully stand-alone medical unit that delivers full intensive-care capabilities inside regular commercial aircraft. Designed primarily for aeromedical repatriation and long-range critical care transport, the unit provides advanced ventilation, monitoring, medication delivery, oxygen integration and energy management.

Guardian ICU is built to comply with strict Dutch and international intensive-care standards and is being developed to meet EASA certification requirements, with certification expected in 2027. The unit can be installed within 2 hours without permanent modifications to the aircraft, offering a standardized, reliable and reproducible ICU environment in flight.

While aeromedical transport is the primary application, Guardian ICU is fully dual-use and also supports defence operations, including:

• AE/MEDEVAC and CASEVAC scenarios

• strategic long-range transport of injured personnel

• medical evacuation during missions and crises

• surge capacity for pandemics and large-scale emergencies

Guardian ICU provides a scalable and sustainable alternative to traditional air ambulances, reducing costs, logistics and environmental impact while improving medical capability and interoperability.
